Final 2008 Conference Program
Dear NASSS Members:
We have an exciting and stimulating conference planned for Denver in just under a month. Please find the final program here. If there are any additions, corrections, deletions, or any other changes (which there no doubt will be), they will be either put into an errata sheet or they will be posted as notices at the registration desk at the conference in The Curtis in Denver.
With the theme for this years conference revolving around Peace and Social Issues as they deal with sport, many of the papers (and keynotes) deal with incredibly timely and vital issues: please look over the program details carefully, as you wont want to miss sessions!
Thanks to the members of the 2008 NASSS Conference Committee, for their efforts on behalf of this years conference. As you all know, the only way that organizations like NASSS can thrive and remain vital in the 21st Century is by the commitment and contributions of their constituencies. The members of the committee are:
Eric Anderson, University of Bath
Becky Beal, California State University, East Bay
Cheryl Cooky, California State University, Fullerton
Mike Giardina, University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign
Othello Harris, Miami University of Ohio
Joanne Kay, Sport Canada
Vicky Paraschak, University of Windsor
Darcy Plymire, Independent Scholar
Genevieve Rail, University of Ottawa
Gary Sailes, Indiana University
George Sage, Northern Colorado University (emeritus)
Maureen Smith, California State University, Sacramento
Nancy E. Spencer, Bowling Green State University
Stephan Walk, California State University, Fullerton
Melissa C. Wiser, The Ohio State University
I thank them all for their help, and I thank all of you for what looks to be an extremely compelling 2008 NASSS Conference!
Bob Rinehart

TAKE A STUDENT TO LUNCH [TaSToL](FRI)
This year’s Take a Student to Lunch event will take place on Friday, 7 November. Take a student to lunch is an annual event and involves faculty members taking graduate students out for lunch (and picking up the tab). We will send an e-mail to NASSS faculty members prior to the conference asking them to volunteer for this year’s lunch, and we would like you to start thinking about who you would like to have lunch with. We will do our best to match you with somebody who shares your (general) interests, but even when this is not possible, you have the opportunity to meet somebody new, and to have a free lunch! Please e-mail us with your faculty requests as the conference nears in September/October. In the meantime, put some thought into who in NASSS is doing work in which you are interested and/or that fits in with your own research agenda.
